Week 3 - Macro

This collage of macro nature shots I've taken was made at Photovisi.com. I chose to take a screenshot of the collage on their site rather than download it with the watermark. I like this program because I can size the images, move them, and rotate as I want. The downside is the corny backgrounds to choose from, I kept it simple.

  1. Hi Lisa

I really like your collage. The pinks, browns greys, yellows and greens all work together very nicely. The butterfly in the center of your work strengthens the center of the image while the textures in the stones/shells add depth. Very nice. Tammy P

  2. My favorite photo is in the bottom left of the collage. At first glance I thought it was a coral reef. The flowers towards the bottom of the photo make it clear that it isn’t. The bird’s eye view angle adds depth to the photo allowing a wide range of colors to be present. Flowers seem to be a popular subject matter to photograph. I guess for those of us up here in Vermont we should use them while they’re around. I plan on investing in bird feeder prior to winter so I have something to photograph in what will soon become a barren snow filled backyard

  3. This collage is very aesthetically pleasing. I enjoy the over all theme that is going on here, and how the colors compliment each other, even though none of them contain the same colors. The detail is very apparent and clear. It is obvious that you are a skilled photographer. The butterfly really centers the image and is a nice example of the concept of depth of field in photography. Overall a nice collage to look at, with one central theme as well as demonstrating topics we learned about this week.

  4. Lisa,I really like how you composed your collage. It seems very simple, but at the same time all the pictures work together. I have to agree with Ben, that flowers seem to be the dominating theme in most collages. But as I learned from my own experience they are not as easy to photograph as one might think. It takes a few tries to figure out the best angle and the depth of field in order to be able to show the texture and the color of the flower correctly. Also they tend to move under the wind. Lol
My favorite one is of the butterfly. It definitely draws attention, and nicely demonstrates the depth of field ( with a blurred background) and crispiness of color and focus.
The collage is a nice display of everything we talked about in the last of couple of weeks.

  5. I really like your collage, I really like the butterfly as the center. The Colors all look great together. taking pictures this close can be a challenge and I took a lot more than 20 pictures! but I learned each time that I took a picture and it didn't come out well to try something a bit difference. The biggest thing I found was that sometimes I was to close and it wouldn't focus and it came out blurry and this was talked about in the articles we read so that was helpful.
